Tech startup logo ideas that survive the pivot
Startups outgrow literal logos fast - the app-icon-of-what-we-do-today ages badly by the seed round. Strong tech marks are abstract enough to survive a pivot and simple enough to work at 16 pixels in a browser tab.
Six directions worth stealing
- The abstract unit. One geometric form built from 2-3 shapes with a single "twist" - an offset, a cut, an overlap. Your future features live comfortably under it.
- The terminal wordmark. Lowercase name in a clean grotesque with one modified character (a squared dot, a clipped terminal). Ninety percent type, ten percent trademark.
- The node mark. Dots joined by lines in a minimal constellation - connectivity without the tired globe. Works animated, too.
- The bracket identity. Your name in [brackets] or with an underscore_ - typographic furniture as brand. Developers get it instantly.
- The pixel-to-vector mark. A form that transitions from stepped pixels to a smooth curve - the "we turn messy into clean" story in one glyph.
- The monospace monogram. Two-letter monogram in a monospace face inside a rounded square - born ready to be a favicon, an app icon, and a Slack emoji.

Typography
Space Grotesk, Sora, or Manrope for the name; Inter for the product. Resist using your code editor's font everywhere.
Do
Design the 16px favicon and the 1024px marketing mark at the same time - if one fails, iterate both.
Don't
No rocket ships, no light bulbs, no generic "AI sparkles". The gradient-purple-blob era is over; let it rest.
